Even though he’s not real, I’ve always considered Optimus Prime as one of my role models because I admire everything he believes in. I admire his dedication to life & protecting the innocent. However, lately my loyalty to Optimus Prime has been tested because in the 2007 movie, when Bumblebee, Sam & Mikaela were being captured at Hoover Dam & bumblebee was being hurt, Optimus didn’t try to help them. I was disappointed in Optimus & wondered, if I had been the one in trouble instead of them, would he have abandoned me too? However, I’ve been doing a lot of thinking & I realise now that Optimus didn’t abandon Bumblebee because he didn’t care about him. He left him because he didn’t want to hurt anyone &, being a commander, he is responsible for the safety of himself & the team. A commander sometimes has to make difficult decisions in order to do the right thing, even if it means losing someone he cares so much about.
I also used to wonder how Bumblebee could forgive Optimus for abandoning him. After a lot of thinking, I realised that Bumblebee forgave Optimus because, being one of his solders, he knew the dangers & sacrifices he may have to make & any decisions Optimus made was not based on emotion, but on what was right & wrong. Bumblebee was willing to sacrifice himself in the war if it meant bringing peace to so many lives. As for Sam & Mikaela, they forgave him when Optimus saved Sam from falling from a building & saved everyone from Megatron. Even though Optimus Prime is not real, I still like to live by his example & be a good & compassionate human.
But, I feel ashamed that I doubted my role model & this doubt has taught me that sometimes we have to make painful decisions to do the right thing, especially commanders.

If Optimus Prime was real & he knew I was upset & had been thinking badly of him, would he forgive me if I told him how very sorry I am?

Plus, because non of the Autobots attacked a single human even once in this movie, they proved by their actions that they are genuinely friendly & peaceful. Optimus probably knew Sam & Mikaela had a better chance of persuading the humans to release Bumblebee anyway.

XFACTOR. I spend every single day of my life in the outdoors (except when it’s raining). Just because I like Transformers & asked a question about Optimus, doesn’t mean I don’t have a life. Unlike you, some of us actually like to use our gift of imagination.
